Sunday Gathering in Brussels

Gathering is an essential part of being human. When we sing, share, play, dance, hold rituals, eat together… We move beyond dogma. Sunday Gathering is about the simple yet radical choice to gently ease open our hearts and trust the voice of love to guide the way.

Many of us have become isolated in our spiritual journeys, atomised by our individual interests, unaware of the mycelial network that connects us and the abundance of resources available to help us flourish.

Sunday Gathering is about remembering the sacredness of life, our belonging to a wider web and that our soul-given gifts are designed to be lived and shared.

The Gathering takes place in Brussels once a month on a Sunday afternoon. Starting with a singing circle and a moment of contemplation, participants then choose between practices exploring different aspects of connection - to self, to other, and to life. We finish the afternoon together around the table.

GIFTS

The Gathering is experimenting with a gift model,
meaning that everyone is invited to contribute as they can.
(Inspired by Charles Eisenstein’s book, Sacred Economics)

Gifts can take many different forms.

Time, energy, experience, food, knowledge, wealth, skills, creativity, love…
There are infinite ways to give, and our intention is to tap into the joy and satisfaction
that is giving and sharing with others from the heart.
Our conviction is that sharing our gifts creates a virtuous cycle that benefits everyone.

This does not mean that money is ignored.

There are costs associated with renting the space and money is needed in order to further develop the project.
We will ask participants during the afternoon to contribute consciously and according to their means.
However, money should not prevent anyone who wants to join, to be able to join.

How would you like to contribute?

Helping with the set-up / clean-up,
guiding an activity around connection,
cooking a group meal for the potluck,
covering the cost of the rental for an afternoon,
decorating the space,
…or anything else.

And if you don’t feel like you are able to contribute anything right now, you are still welcome.
Some moments in life are just for receiving.

Who is behind
The Gathering?

My name is Ani and I have been gathering people together in various forms since 2019.

As a singer with a heart for devotional music, I have led numerous singing circles and am convinced of their incredible power to liberate, connect and elevate (artist name: Ani Rose). When guiding circles I share mantras from various spiritual traditions, as well as original songs, with a desire to connect with the essence underlying them all.

My own journey has brought me from a rigidly dogmatic Evangelical Protestant upbringing, to stumbling through an arid lifeless spiritual desert in my 20s, to awkwardly but authentically seeking my own way across several years and countries.

During this vulnerable process I rediscovered my love of devotional music, but through the lens of mantras and ícaros rather than worship songs. Music helped me heal the religious trauma I had been carrying and reconnected me to the love of gathering meaningfully in community.

Throughout the past 7 years, I have attended and facilitated numerous workshops on a range of topics, from authentic relating to embodiment. I felt the essence that was weaving these different spaces together, yet did not find one home to house them all. That’s when The Gathering was born. Now feels like the opportune time to gather together with others, exploring spiritual paths and practices that break free of dogma and remind us of the interconnectedness of all things.

FAQ
What kind of practices will there be?

The practices will vary each time and will be a surprise. They can range from meditation, Qi Gong, somatic dance to authentic relating, collage and even gardening! The common thread between them is connection - either to oneself, to the other or to life. Participants then choose which practice (out of 2 or 3) they feel most drawn to attend. At least one of them will be suitable to children.

FAQ
Can I guide a practice?

The Gathering is a space for people to develop and share their soul-given gifts. Whether a ‘facilitator’ or not, everyone is welcome to propose practices around their particular pathway to connection. Creative ideas are very welcome - the Gathering is a wonderful space to explore and expand. If this inspires you, get in touch with Ani via the contact button below.

FAQ
What other ways can I contribute?

There is basically an unlimited number of ways you can contribute - the idea of this space is for everyone to find their zone of genius where they thrive and to generously share that with others. Practically though, we need regular help with the set up and take down of the event, decoration, welcome desk, cleaning, as well as communications - taking beautiful photos and videos and sharing them so more people can find us. We also welcome financial donors and sponsors to help buy materials and eventually find our own space!
